He’s the newest evening voice on Z100 New York and the official announcer for the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, Mo’ Bounce joins Novell in a quick chat, talking about his misunderstood radio “gypsying”, his story right from being a Z100 DJ stalker to Z100-living-the-dream.
Novell: You grew up in New York, and according to an about.com article “stalked deejays at Z100″, how was Mo’ Bounce as a kid?
Mo’: As a kid, I loved video games! Its crazy… with all the advancements in gaming nowadays… I still revert back to “Street Fighter 2″ and “Super Mario Bros”! As for radio, the “radio bug” bit me when i was about 13. And yes… I used to visit…ok, STALKED the DJ’s at Z100 at station appearances when I was a kid! Elvis Duran and The Jammer (Spyder Harrison) I would frequent. Also when I moved to Tampa, FL. in my later teen years i would visit MJ & BJ at station events. All that stalking got my first internship at 93.3flz in Tampa when I was 17 fresh out of High School! See…stalking CAN be productive! HA!

Novell: You started at 17, been through many top 40 stations, how was the journey to Z100?
Mo’: The journey has been a blast! You know… some people note my “gypsy” lifestyle in radio, and constant bouncing around from state to state–station to station as bad for my resume, or lack of loyalty. I completely disagree! Sure, i may have bounced around too quick at some spots, others I was just cheated in raw deals. But I wouldn’t have had my journey any other way! I’ve worked at some of the best Top 40 stations in the country: Q102 in Philly, 93.3FLZ in Tampa, HOT 95-7 in Houston and many others in between. I believe it ALL happens for a reason! I have amazing friends and contacts all over the country because of my travels. I have alot of people to thank because of it all. My original goal when I was a kid was to be a ZJ on Z100 NYC… and now… I’m here living the dream! So for the record, I do not plan on leaving anytime soon, if ever! LOL

Mo’ Bounce is doing the Nights 6pm to 10pm on Z100 New York. He’s been with the most amazing stations in the country including Hot 95-7 Houston, Q102 Philly, 93.3 FLZ Tampa, Z95.7 Kansas City, Mix 96.1 San Antonio, Hot 104 Mobile, Hot 104.9 Tallahassee and Kiss 105.3 Gainesville.
Mo’ Bounce’s also doing fill-in host of the nationally syndicated show – Hollywood Hamilton’s Weekend Top 30 Countdown.
Novell: What is it in radio that you haven’t tried yet that you want to do on Z?
Mo’: Well, I’ve only been here a couple of months so far. Aside from doing nights 6p-10p every night and being the syndicated VO voice for Elvis Duran and the Morning Show nationwide, voiceing KISS-FM Seattle and other stations plus Voice-Tracking a show for HOT 99-5 in Washington DC… I’m REALLY looking forward to Z100′s Jingle Ball, pumping up the crowd and introducing acts to 17,000 people at Madison Square Garden on December 11th. I think thats enough to take in right now… never know what the future holds!
Novell: What are 4 things that make Mo’ Bounce mad?

Mo’:
1)… The dryer eating my socks. Why is it when you wash socks, rarely do you get them back as a pair? Huh…why??
2)… Horrible radio jingles/imaging. I will NOT name stations… but damn!
3)… Callers that say: “Is this Z100?” when I just got finished answering the phone saying, “Z100 Hello”.
4)… Listeners that win concert tickets, then ask if the seats are bad… C’mon! They are FREE tickets, people! hahaSure, those aren’t the serious things that make me mad… but i wanted to keep things light hearted LOL
Novell: Who do you look up to outside of radio?
Mo’: Not to sound completely corny.. but My Mom and Dad. To see their marriage and bond last and stay true through so many years really inspires me! Also, my wife. Her heart makes me want to be a better man. Yep, i got mushy for a second. lol
Novell: If you were to decide for the number 1 song on Interactive 9 @ 9 today, what would that be?
Mo’: I absolutely love “Ke$ha – Tik Tok” its such a simple yet sometimes annoyingly catchy song that is just HUGE! Lots of Z100 listeners connect with it, and I hear it has become quite the “while I get ready for the club” anthem for the ladies!
The Interactive 9@9 is a nightly chart show on Z100 with listeners calling in to introduce the songs. Speaking of introducing, Mo’s Z100 Welcome Party last September was a blast.
Held in the P.C. Richard & Son Theater, Justin Bieber, along with a crazy crowd, made a really warm welcome party to the new ZJ.
Being tapped for the new voice of the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show is a fulfillment for Mo’. He said, “this is a huge honor and privilege! Being anywhere near involved with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show is a dream come true.” (From AllAccess.com)

Novell: If your life is a TV show right now, what will be its title?
Mo’: Well as far as radio… it would be titled: “Busy” I think that sums it up lol. But, alot of friends tweet my wife and I on Twitter saying we should have our own show too… lol Still thinking of a title for that one. “The Newlyweds” wouldn’t be good. we all know how THAT one ended up!
Novell: Gadget you can’t live without?
Mo’: Hands down… my iPhone! You can’t pry that thing out of my hand!! A close 2nd and 3rd? My MacBook and iMac… yep, I’m an Apple products GEEK! PROUDLY! lol
